Happy List! – March 1, 2011

Things that make me happy… RIGHT NOW!

– Super attentive, and caring, merchants. I’ve chased many a person out of Barnes & Noble, and from a notable Times Square ATM, in order to return the credit cards they left behind. Because of this, I am super careful with mine. In a rush to get to class, I left my debit card behind today at YarnWest. This could have been disastrous as the store is 45 minutes from my house and nowhere near any of my other teaching locations. Little did I know that the fantastic girls, Jill, Laura & Lucy, were on the case. They used their finely honed detective skills, remembering that I said I was going to teach a Lego class at a local elementary school. They hopped on the telephone and called all neighboring schools until they found me. I was shocked when the school secretary tracked me down and told me that Laura had my card. (First off, I wasn’t aware that I had left it; second, I was stunned with pleasant surprise and relief!) When I went back to the store to retrieve my card, Laura said that they remembered me saying that I lived in Westminster and as it was such a far drive, they felt compelled to find me. WHAT AMAZING KINDNESS! Bonus points, again, to the great ladies at YarnWest!

– Little boys have feelings too! I’ve never really yearned to have a son. I’ve always been obsessed with all little things pink, frilly and fabulous. What would I do with a boy? They are so rough and tumble, tough and… well… boyish! It’s hard to see past the loud, crazy, rambunctious little guys sometimes to see the sensitive souls that lie within. One of my little ones got his feelings hurt today (his words) which resulted in a flood of tears. No, THAT didn’t make me happy. However, the incident resulted in him tugging at my pants and becoming my little buddy for the rest of the day. One day I’ll have to develop this into it’s own piece, because these little guys are starting to turn me around. No one is more shocked than me!
– Texts from nowhere just when you need them. Intuition? Who knows. I’ve learned not to question. I’m just glad it happens!
Text someone you love out of the blue, and keep thinking of the things that make YOU smile! 🙂

  1. My happy thing today is trying something new: I’ve always been a chocolate shake girl. I am OBSESSED with chocolate shakes. Eve in the face of oreo cookie shakes and other yummy flaors, I almost always opt for plain chocolate. But today, I took a leap of faith on trying a mint oreo shake…sounded too good to pass up. SO GLAD I did! I was amazing! Yummmm
